Our client is hiring a Project Manager (Mitigation) - a true leader with mitigation experience and business acumen. This role is vital to the branch, so your performance will directly contribute to its success. You must be organized and thrive in a fast-paced environment. They are searching for an effective leader who can seamlessly manage multiple facets, in the office and out in the field.
Our client is a leader in the restoration and reconstruction space with nearly 400 markets across the United States and Canada, serving residential, institutional, and commercial customers and clients. For over 50 years, they have served their communities in their time of need when facing disaster.
THE WHY: a subsection of the construction industry that’s all about helping people during incredibly hard times/disasters - floods, fires, mold, emergencies, and accidents.
THE WHERE: the office is based in Williamsburg, VA. You’ll be working in the office or out in the field, (aka - no remote options). Only candidates within 30 minutes of the listed territory, (or willing to relocate), will be considered.

The Mitigation team plays a vital role in the initial response to property damage emergencies. They are the first responders, acting swiftly to minimize further loss and ensure the safety of the property and occupants.
THE HOW: Be a part of a growing company and help this branch reach its full potential. Act as a strategic partner, helping with planning, payroll, finance, etc. while managing a team of 10+ mitigation techs. Comp range is $65,000 - $80,000k base. Total expected compensation with commissions and bonuses is $90,000 - $100,000k+.
THE MUST HAVES: Thriving in this role requires a unique blend of experience and skills. You'll bring a minimum of 3-5 years in property damage mitigation or restoration, honed leadership and supervisory capabilities, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
A highly organized approach is essential, as is a deep understanding of insurance claims processes and the ability to manage competing demands. Leading successful mitigation projects is paramount. You'll be proficient in project management and scheduling software, wielding these tools to orchestrate efficient workflows. Additionally, a working knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, such as those set by the IICRC, is essential.

The Project Manager (Mitigation) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the mitigation process, ensuring timely and effective responses to property damage emergencies. This role requires a strong leader who can manage a team of technicians, maintain excellent customer service, and ensure projects are completed efficiently and profitably.
YOUR DNA
Strong Project Management Skills: This is crucial for overseeing mitigation projects, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. Expertise in project management and scheduling software is key.
Leadership and Supervisory Skills: The ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of technicians is essential. This includes clear communication, delegation, and performance management.
Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Mitigation managers interact with a variety of stakeholders, including customers, insurance adjusters, and other professionals. They need to be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Technical Expertise: Understanding of property damage restoration techniques (water, fire, mold), contents cleaning and pack-out procedures, and industry best practices is necessary to assess damage, develop mitigation plans, and ensure quality control.
Understanding of Insurance Claims Processes: A strong grasp of how insurance claims work allows the mitigation manager to effectively collaborate with adjusters, ensuring projects meet insurance requirements and receive proper reimbursement.
Organization and Attention to Detail: Mitigation projects involve many moving parts. The manager needs to be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accurate project documentation.
Customer Service Focus: Building trust and maintaining positive relationships with customers is important. The mitigation manager needs to be empathetic, responsive to customer concerns, and ensure a smooth restoration process.
Problem-Solving Skills: Mitigation projects can present unexpected challenges. The manager needs to be a critical thinker, able to assess situations, develop solutions, and adapt plans as needed.
Staying Up-to-Date: The mitigation industry is constantly evolving. The successful manager stays informed about new techniques, regulations (like IICRC standards), and best practices to ensure their team uses the most effective methods.

Proven Track Record in Mitigation:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in: property damage restoration across various disaster types (water, fire, mold). You can confidently assess damage, develop mitigation plans, and oversee the entire restoration process.
Success in a small team setting: experience leading a mitigation crew demonstrates your ability to wear multiple hats, handle diverse tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
Leadership for a Fast-Paced Environment:
Thrives under pressure: quick decisions and immediate action are necessary. You remain calm and collected while keeping the team focused on efficient project completion.
Resourcefulness: You understand how to leverage limited resources effectively. You can prioritize tasks, utilize technology efficiently, and potentially source solutions from external vendors when necessary.
Strong work ethic: You lead by example, demonstrating a willingness to go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.
Industry Technology & Market Needs

Education and Certifications
Bachelor's degree (preferred): A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as construction management, engineering, or environmental science;
Associate's degree: an Associate's degree in a related field like construction technology is an asset.

This position will require up to some local travel to jobs sites, trainings, and company events (as needed).
Requirements
Must be able to stay in a stationary position up to 75% of the time
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about a customer job site (indoors and outdoors)

Must be able to observe and perceive information on a computer and documents

SALARY & BENEFITS
The approximate annual compensation range for this role, depending on individual candidate level and experience, is $65,000k - $80,000k base plus commission, bonus, benefits, and more. Total expected compensation with commissions and bonuses is $90,000-100,000.
