Our client, a leader in the restoration and reconstruction industry, is hiring a Director of Mitigation to lead their growing operations across two strategic locations in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. This is a pivotal leadership role that will drive the direction, growth, and success of the mitigation department while managing a team of 10-12 direct reports.

THE WHAT:
You will be the field general, technical expert, and business leader driving the mitigation department's success.
This role requires someone who can seamlessly transition from hands-on field leadership to executive-level strategy sessions - equally comfortable directing emergency response operations as you are analyzing P&L statements and implementing process improvements.
MUST HAVES:
We are seeking a leader with 7+ years of restoration/mitigation experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
You must have deep technical expertise (IICRC WRT required, additional certifications preferred), proven people management skills, and a track record of driving operational excellence.
Experience with multi-location operations and industry-standard software (Xactimate, Encircle, etc.) is essential.

THE HOW: There are three key strategic initiatives that this person will be initially tasked with:
Training & Team Development: Build and implement comprehensive training programs for technicians and PMs, focusing on technical skills, estimating, and process adherence. This includes field training modules, regular coaching cadences, and individual development plans.
Process Implementation & Quality Assurance: Partner with the General Manager to develop, implement, and quality-check operational processes across both locations, ensuring consistent execution and high standards.
Metrics & Strategic Improvements: Establish key departmental metrics and develop strategic approaches to achieve performance goals, focusing on profitability, efficiency, and service excellence.
THE NUTS & BOLTS:
Total compensation floor of $120K with realistic range of $150K-200K+ and potential to exceed based on department performance.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
As Director of Mitigation, you will be responsible for the performance, consistency, and cultural alignment of the mitigation department across both company locations.
Core areas of ownership include:
People Management & Culture
Lead and develop a team of 10-12 direct reports including PMs and technicians
Conduct daily stand-ups, weekly production reviews, and after-action reviews
Build and maintain individual development plans for team members
Create and foster a high-performance, accountable team culture
Field & Scheduling Operations
Review and assign all new incoming mitigation jobs
Manage emergency response and after-hours coordination
Ensure proper equipment deployment and labor efficiency
Maintain oversight of job progress and performance metrics
Step in on escalated field-level concerns when needed
Job Financials & Departmental Performance
Review and approve estimates, budgets, and change orders
Monitor job profitability and labor efficiency
Drive overall departmental financial health
Partner with executive team on strategic growth initiatives
Training & Quality Assurance
Develop and implement comprehensive training programs
Ensure IICRC S500 standards adherence
Perform regular job audits and site visits
Drive continuous improvement in process execution

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
7+ years of restoration or mitigation experience
3+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
IICRC WRT certification required; ASD, AMRT, and other advanced certifications strongly preferred
Experience managing multi-location operations or large field teams
Strong command of drying science, moisture mapping, and equipment deployment
Proficiency in restoration software including Xactimate, Encircle, Symbility, and Docusketch
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Total compensation floor of $120K with realistic range of $150K-200K+. Potential to exceed $200K with additional management bonuses based on overall department performance.
