QUICK OVERVIEW - TL;DR (please read this section to ensure your fit before applying)

Our client is hiring a Director of Regional Sales for Western Canada. This is a dynamic opportunity with a market-leading restoration company that's looking for someone who thrives on complexity and variety. You'll be building your own commercial business while coaching 14-18 franchise owners to become effective business developers in their local markets.

Think sales hunter meets business coach meets strategic architect - designing and implementing sales initiatives that work across diverse franchise locations while driving your own commercial relationships. It's the kind of role that keeps you engaged because every day brings different challenges and opportunities.

THE WHO: Our client is a leader in the restoration and reconstruction space with nearly 400 locations serving commercial and residential customers across Canada.

For over four decades, they've been the trusted name when disaster strikes, but they've identified a significant opportunity: their franchise network has untapped commercial potential that needs the right person to unlock it.

THE WHAT: You'll cover BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, working with 14-18 franchise locations to help them develop their commercial business capabilities. Many of these franchise owners are excellent at restoration work but haven't fully developed their local commercial sales potential.

Your role is to coach them on sales strategies, help them identify opportunities in their markets, and teach them effective networking and relationship building techniques. At the same time, you'll be pursuing your own commercial relationships and creating scalable sales initiatives that benefit the entire network.

MUST HAVES: You need proven experience in both direct sales and developing others' sales capabilities, ideally within franchise or multi-location business environments.

You must be comfortable working with independent business owners who need coaching and influence rather than direction.

You should understand how to design sales strategies that can work across different markets while building your own commercial relationships with property managers, insurance adjusters, and facilities directors.

THE WHY: The restoration industry is stable, recession-proof, and growing. Our client has built a strong foundation over 40+ years, and they're ready to maximize the commercial potential within their franchise network.

New leadership understands both the opportunity and what it takes to capture it. The Western region has motivated franchise owners who want to grow - they just need the right guidance and systems to make it happen effectively.

THE WHERE: Calgary or Edmonton preferred for travel efficiency. You'll be traveling 50%+ across the four provinces because this role requires face-to-face coaching with franchise owners and relationship building with commercial prospects.

THE HOW: Three strategic priorities that define your success:

  1. Franchise Sales Development: Transform franchise locations into proactive commercial business generators by coaching owners and their teams on sales strategies, local market identification, and relationship building techniques.

  2. Omnichannel Initiative Creation: Develop and implement sales strategies, tools, and processes that can be adapted across different franchise locations, market sizes, and regional dynamics.

  3. Direct Commercial Business Building: Generate $2 million in new business through your own commercial relationships while establishing 500+ contacts across key verticals who understand our client's capabilities.

THE NUTS & BOLTS: Base of $95,000 - $110,000 CAD, plus performance-driven commission structure with unlimited earning potential.

Comprehensive benefits package, vehicle program, and all travel expenses covered.

THE COMPANY & TEAM

Our client has spent over 40 years building one of Canada's most trusted restoration companies. They've got the infrastructure, reputation, and financial backing that comes from decades of success. But here's what makes this opportunity unique: they've identified a significant gap in how their franchise network approaches commercial business development.

Most franchise owners are excellent at restoration work but lean heavily on corporate for business generation. They pay franchise fees expecting leads to be delivered rather than developing their own local commercial relationships. This creates a massive untapped opportunity - franchise locations that could be generating significant commercial business in their local markets but lack the sales knowledge and systems to make it happen.

The Western region is full of motivated franchise owners who want to grow their businesses. They just need someone who can teach them how to do it effectively while building the corporate relationships that support everyone's success.

A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR A SALES LEADER AND BUSINESS COACH

YOUR DNA

You're that rare combination of hunter and teacher. You can build your own commercial relationships while simultaneously coaching franchise owners who've never thought of themselves as salespeople. You understand that working with franchise businesses means influencing people who own their own companies - they're not employees you can direct, they're partners you need to inspire and educate.

You're a strategic thinker who can design sales initiatives that work across different markets and business sizes. A process that works for a large franchise in Calgary might need to be adapted for a smaller operation in Regina. You can see the common principles while adjusting the execution for local realities.

You excel at stakeholder management across multiple levels. One day you're coaching a franchise owner on networking strategies, the next you're presenting to a REIT's facilities management team, the next you're working with corporate marketing to develop tools that support franchise sales efforts. You can adapt your communication style while maintaining credibility with each audience.

You understand the service industry reality where relationships drive everything. In restoration, property managers need to trust that you'll show up when disaster strikes and handle it professionally. Franchise owners need to trust that your sales strategies will actually work in their markets. You build that trust through consistency, expertise, and genuine care about their success.

You're comfortable with complexity and ambiguity. Every franchise location has different capabilities, market dynamics, and owner personalities. You can assess these differences quickly and develop customized approaches that align with each location's strengths and opportunities.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

As the Director of Regional Sales, you're essentially building a sales organization within a franchise network. You'll be developing the commercial capabilities of 14-18 independent business owners while building your own strategic relationships with major commercial accounts. This requires someone who can think strategically, execute tactically, and influence effectively without direct authority.

THE DAY TO DAY

Franchise Business Development Coaching

  • Teaching franchise owners and their staff how to identify potential commercial clients in their markets - hotels, restaurants, retail chains, office buildings, etc.

  • Coaching them on networking techniques, relationship building, and consultative sales approaches that work in the restoration industry

  • Helping franchise locations understand their operational capabilities so they can pursue opportunities they can actually deliver on successfully

  • Developing sales tools, scripts, and processes that franchise owners can use to approach commercial prospects professionally

Omnichannel Sales Initiative Development
  • Creating sales campaigns and initiatives that can be implemented across multiple franchise locations with regional adaptations

  • Developing partnerships with insurance adjusters who handle larger commercial claims

  • Attending industry events and trade shows to build market presence for both corporate and franchise locations

  • Managing complex sales cycles that involve multiple franchise locations and corporate coordination

  • Working with corporate leadership to pursue enterprise-level opportunities that require coordinated multi-location delivery

Strategic Coordination and Support
  • Collaborating with Regional Business Coaches to align sales initiatives with operational capabilities at each location

  • Providing regular training and support to help franchise owners build their sales confidence and capabilities

  • Tracking and measuring the success of different sales initiatives to identify what works best in different market conditions

  • Supporting franchise owners in developing their local commercial reputations and market presence

Experience and Background Required
  • 10+ years of business development experience with a strong track record of both direct sales and developing others' sales capabilities

  • Proven experience working with franchise businesses, multi-location operations, or similar models where you influence independent business owners

  • Success in service-based industries where relationship building and trust are critical to long-term success

  • Experience developing and implementing sales strategies that can be adapted across different markets and business sizes

  • Background working with commercial real estate, property management, facilities management, or related industries strongly preferred

  • Track record of building strategic partnerships and managing complex stakeholder relationships

Key Skills and Competencies
  • Exceptional coaching and development skills - ability to teach sales concepts to people who may not see themselves as salespeople

  • Strategic thinking and initiative development - can design omnichannel sales approaches that work across diverse franchise locations

  • Strong presentation and training abilities - comfortable leading workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions

  • Consultative sales expertise with complex B2B sales cycles

  • Understanding of franchise business dynamics and how to influence without direct authority

  • Professional presence and credibility with both franchise owners and corporate executives

Travel and Location Requirements
  • 50%+ travel across BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba

  • Calgary or Edmonton base strongly preferred for logistics and cost efficiency

  • Extensive face-to-face interaction required with both franchise locations and commercial prospects

  • Must be comfortable managing complex travel schedules and building relationships across a large geographic territory

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary of $95,000 - $110,000 CAD, plus commission structure that rewards both direct sales success and the commercial growth you generate through franchise development.

Comprehensive benefits package including:
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • Paid vacation and sick time

  • Holiday pay

  • RRSP matching program

  • Vehicle allowance and comprehensive expense account

  • Professional development and training opportunities

THE OPPORTUNITY

This role offers something most sales positions can't: the chance to build both your own business and help others build theirs. You'll be working with franchise owners who have the motivation to grow but need the sales expertise to make it happen. You'll be developing omnichannel sales initiatives that create value across an entire network while building your own strategic commercial relationships.

Our client has identified a significant opportunity in their franchise network and is ready to invest in the right person to unlock it. If you're someone who enjoys both direct sales and developing others, understands franchise business dynamics, and can think strategically while executing tactically, this represents a unique opportunity to build something significant while being well-rewarded for your success.

The restoration industry continues to grow, and our client is positioned to capture more of that growth through a more sophisticated approach to commercial business development. They need someone who can make that happen through a combination of direct sales excellence and franchise business coaching expertise.
